Exciting Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity for a Premises Manager to take a lead role in ensuring our school is secure, well-maintained, and provides an outstanding environment for our students and staff. You will oversee the daily management of our premises, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and maintaining the highest standards of upkeep. Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and skilled Premises Manager to join our team on a full-time basis (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year). This role is ideal for someone with experience in facilities management who takes pride in maintaining a safe and efficient school environment. Key Responsibilities: Health & Safety Compliance: Lead the monitoring and maintenance of Health & Safety policies and procedures, including fire safety, risk assessments, COSHH compliance, and staff training. Site Security & Maintenance: Ensure the security of the school premises, implementing planned repair and maintenance programs in line with health and safety standards. Cleaning & Grounds Management: Supervise cleaning staff, ensuring high standards of cleanliness both inside and outside the school. Supervision & Staff Management: Manage and train the premises team, including performance appraisals and induction training for new staff. Contractor & Project Management: Coordinate and supervise external contractors, ensuring all work is completed to the required standard. Facilities & Resource Management: Oversee the operation of heating, lighting, security (CCTV & alarms), and ventilation systems. Lettings & Community Engagement: Manage the lettings of school facilities, liaising with external users to maximize income generation. Procurement & Budget Management: Monitor and purchase premises-related supplies and equipment within an agreed budget. Environmental Responsibility: Monitor utility usage and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve sustainability. About You: We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Premises Manager with: Previous experience in premises management, facilities, or caretaking. A practical, hands-on approach with excellent DIY and maintenance skills. A strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and willingness to undertake further training. Good IT and administrative skills, including record-keeping and reporting. A proactive attitude with excellent problem-solving and time-management skills. The ability to work independently as well as lead and support a team. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
