We are looking to recruit 3 SLT Assistants to work within our Speech and Language Therapy team. You will need to have appropriate experience / qualifications to do this work as well as an aptitude and willingness to further develop these skills.
Experience of successful collaborative working with families, educational settings and wider multi-agency teams and a working knowledge of the delivery of Special Educational Needs support in UK schools would be advantageous.

• have good IT skills in order to make effective use of our mobile working technology and IT systems.
Your main duties will include:
• Assisting the BCHC Trust Speech and Language Therapists and working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs and disabilities (SEND) and SLCN
• Supporting the delivery of universal, targeted interventions in a range of settings including nurseries, schools and other community settings
• Planning and delivering therapy sessions as part of a delegated programme to children in the service without direct supervision at times but in regular liaison with designated therapist who will provide direction
• Delivering and supporting educational settings in developing and making resources to support therapy programmes.
• The SLT service works as part of Inclusion Services within the Children and Families Division of Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We work across the whole City, within a range of community and educational settings, thus requiring successful applicants to demonstrate a high level of flexibility

• To communicate effectively with children, carers and professionals, using a range of communication skills and accessing alternative communication systems where necessary.
• To work in collaboration with SLTs to develop, demonstrate and modify therapy intervention programmes. To model interventions such as group sessions to parents and education staff and run groups jointly with education staff, taking supervision from SLTs. In collaboration with SLTs, to differentiate in respect of individual’s clinical presentation, strengths and interests.
• The post holder will be required to assist in planning, providing and adapting therapeutic activity as appropriate within the framework set by the SLT and within the post holder’s competencies.
• To complete timely accurate written and electronic records of patient’s care, maintaining service standards and following departmental clinical record keeping guidelines. The post holder will also be required to input activity into the IT system.
