Our client, a leading oil and gas service company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Engineer for a role based in Abu Dhabi. This position begins with a comprehensive 6-9 month training period at their headquarters in Aberdeen. The successful candidate will play a crucial role within the design team, contributing to the development of conceptual designs, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards, and providing support to field technicians. This role will primarily focus on supporting projects in Qatar, with the flexibility to travel to the region as needed by the business. Responsibilities Receive technical direction and guidance from the Engineering Manager, TA, Lead Design Engineers, and Project Technical Leads. Assume technical disciplinary responsibility for design-related tasks and activities under the guidance of Lead Design Engineers. Support Draughtspersons, Trainee Draughtsperson, and Graduate Engineers. Ensure accountability for the quality, safety, and fitness for purpose of draughting work undertaken. Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and review with SE/Team Leader. Present technical proposals and designs at concept and detailed design reviews. Familiarise and efficiently use design tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, etc. Provide design support as required. Conduct onshore and offshore site surveys. Qualifications Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, Ansys or other FEA packages, and MathCAD. Experience in a design engineering environment, particularly in oil and gas pipework design, installation, and operation. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and knowledge of Microsoft AX system would be an advantage. Honors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Chartered status with IMechE or similar would be an advantage.
