Are you passionate about school governance? Are you a Clerk looking for your next role and would like to learn more about the academy sector and trust governance?
SVMAT has an opportunity for someone with an interest in governance and education to join us as the Assistant to the Head of Governance, supporting our Trust Governance Lead and the schools within our trust across Warwickshire.
We are looking for someone who can take accurate minutes as you will be the governance professional at our local academy committee meetings. You need to be organised, an excellent communicator, have an understanding of school governance and be able to work flexibly as local academy meetings are likely to take place during the early evening or late afternoon. Local academy meetings occur between four and 15 times a year and you may also be involved in managing other governance meetings such as exclusion and complaints panels.
There’s more to it than clerking! We also need someone who wants to grow in the role, who is willing to learn about the other aspects of governance beyond clerking. Whilst managing meetings and taking minutes is a large part of the role, you will also be supporting the central team and the Trust Governance Lead, deputising in their absence and supporting the trust board and CEO as required.
We can offer support and training, a friendly team, and flexible working arrangements. Please read the governance professional competencies document (https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/governance-handbook) to help you decide if this opportunity is right for you.
We strive to provide high quality education for all students and we are looking to recruit someone to support our students across the Trust in fulfilling their academic potential and enabling them to become ‘the best they can be’. An understanding of how every member of staff contributes to this is essential.
