Main duties of the job
Joining our vibrant and busy team, you'll be required to manage the day to day operations of the Portering Department.
Applicants will be required to be flexible and work weekends and bank holidays as they will be required to work a shift pattern in a 24/7, seven days a week service.

Job responsibilities
Your primary responsibility/duty is to lead all aspects of the daily operations of the area/areas of main management responsibility, by providing an excellent customer focused service, ensuring that all Portering department tasks/duties are completed in a professional and timely fashion.
To be responsible for the management, supervision and administration of the post holders designated area/areas of responsibility to include but not exclusive: appraisals, attendance, booking of bank staff, sickness / absence records through the use of the Trust databases, and arranging bespoke and or mandatory training.
The Portering Team Leader will be required to delegate tasks as necessary though out the department, whilst utilising good leadership and problem solving skills, ensuring that they actively pursue and reinforce the Trusts policies in relation to Equal Opportunities and diversity legislation.
To manage and maintain adequate staffing levels by co-ordinating and producing all staff duties/rosters, ensuring that any staff absence is covered.
Liaise with all users of the portering service to include, patients, trust department and services and external companies and agencies in a professional manner and where required problem solve in line with Department SOPs and trust policy.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Educated to QCF/NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or related field
2. Management or Supervisory qualification NVQ 3 or higher
Knowledge
Essential
3. Working within a NHS / Healthcare / Facilities environment
4. Up-to-date knowledge of current and developing Law, Legislation in relation to NHS/Facilities services
Experience
Essential
5. 2 years Management or Team Leading experience in Healthcare / Facilities or associated organisation
6. Experience of carrying out audits and / or delivering training
7. Ability to establish credibility and good relationships with internal management and staff including managers, clinicians, clients and stakeholders and manage those relationships with sensitivity and diplomacy
Skills

8. High level of IT skill is required on programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Word applications and Excel
9. Strong communication skills including the ability to relate and communicate with patients and staff at all levels and from different professions

10. Experience with NHS eRoster/HealthRoster is desirable
