An exciting opportunity has arisen at Highshore School for teachers of Special Educational Needs.
Highshore School is an exceptional special school catering to pupils aged 11-19 with complex needs. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher of SEND to join our team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. A key focus of this role is preparing our learners for adulthood, equipping them with essential life skills to support their independence and future aspirations. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about delivering our life skills curriculum, which includes food technology and other practical subjects designed to enhance daily living and vocational skills.
What We’re Looking For
You will be an enthusiastic, innovative, and flexible educator with:
* Essential Qualifications: UK-recognized teaching qualification (QTS) and right to work in the UK.
* Experience: A proven track record of teaching students with complex needs and differentiating the curriculum to support diverse learning needs.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of current best practices in SEN teaching, behaviour management, and assessment frameworks such as Evidence for Learning.
* Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills to effectively manage and inspire your team and engage with pupils, parents, and carers.
* Commitment: A dedication to continuous professional development and the drive to help students achieve their personal best.
Desirable qualifications include experience with Makaton, TEACCH, and Team Teach, and prior work in a special school setting.
We are also looking for someone that has a background working in Food Technology or Life Skills.
