We are currently recruiting for an experienced IS Business Analyst to work for Merseyside Police at their headquarters in Rose Hill, Liverpool.
This is a temporary role until February 2026, working Monday to Friday, 36.50 hours a week, and will be office-based.
The day rate is £400.
PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO POLICE VETTING CRITERIA, YOU MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION.
Scope:
The Business Analyst is responsible for investigating and analysing different aspects of the force's business activities, recommending changes to improve efficiency, and coordinating the implementation of those changes. The Business Analyst is also responsible for identifying where and how automation could improve existing business processes, specifically focusing on analyses of the pre-employment practices of the organisation.
Merseyside Police require all of the following from the would-be post holder:
1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in the role of Business Analyst
2. Specific working history within IT-based organisation(s)
3. An ISEB qualification or its equivalent
4. A full, clean driving licence
5. Experience of project management
6. In-depth knowledge of ICT applications & software
Principal accountabilities:
1. Serve as the conduit between the business users across the force and the technical staff in the ICT department and associated external organisations.
2. Liaise with managers and users of existing systems to understand the business requirements and the existing business processes and procedures.
3. Coordinate their planned work with the Force's overall business improvement plan created by the Corporate Support Department.
4. Identify areas for improvement by analysing existing processes, discussing the requirements with management and operators, and comparing the business processes with those used in other organisations.
5. Recommend improvements to business processes to cut out unnecessary steps, remove duplicated or wasted effort, and reduce the time and effort needed to complete those processes.
6. In conjunction with the ICT department and suppliers of IT systems, specify and document the IT solutions needed to automate business processes.
7. Manage the projects to implement changes to business processes and any associated automation of business processes.
8. Document and enumerate the outcome and the resources used before and after the proposed changes and automation of business processes.
9. Supervise and coordinate the work of the team assigned to each of the projects.
10. Undertake all responsibilities relating to information management, data quality, information sharing, intelligence, and information security in accordance with the ACPO Guidance on the Management of Police Information to achieve compliance with the Statutory Code of Practice.
