AJ Group are currently looking to appoint a Health and Safety Manager for a leading Data Centre business to oversee all construction phase across their sites in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
* Customer Relationship Management: Act as the primary HSE point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, providing regular updates, and ensuring alignment with customer expectations and standards through design and build phases.
* Client-Side Safety Oversight: Ensure contractors and subcontractors comply with health, safety, and environmental requirements on behalf of the client, upholding legal, contractual, and project-specific obligations.
* Policy and Governance: Work with the compliance team to develop and enforce health, safety, and environmental frameworks tailored to data centre construction projects, ensuring alignment with UK legislation, including CDM 2015 regulations, management system certifications and industry best practices.
* CDM Compliance: Work with the compliance team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of processes to ensure the full compliance with CDM 2015 regulations, including roles as ‘Client’ or ‘Principal Designer’ when applicable.
* ISO 45001 Certification: Collaborate with internal teams to design, implement, and maintain systems and processes that support ISO 45001 certification.
* Environmental Management: Ensure that Contractor teams have environmental management plans for projects, focusing on areas such as waste management, emissions reduction, and energy efficiency. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, ISO 14001 Certification and drive sustainability initiatives.
* Risk Management: When necessary, support the construction team with either the writing or review of detailed risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) to mitigate potential hazards, particularly for high-risk activities in critical environments.
* Site Inspections: Perform regular site inspections and review those by others (construction team or third parties) to monitor compliance with HSE standards and ensure safe and environmentally sustainable working practices, providing detailed reports to customers and internal stakeholders.
* Incident Management: Ensure that the Principal Contractor and others Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing client and its customers with clear insights into root causes and actions taken to prevent recurrence.
* Reporting: Prepare and deliver HSE performance reports, including KPIs, audit findings, and environmental metrics, ensuring transparency and consistency for client SLT, ExCom, Investors and client customer stakeholders.
* Training and Awareness: Work with ‘People and Performance’ and ‘Compliance’ to ensure that the Construction team have the right level of training for their job roles with respect to health, safety, and the environment. This should also include other areas of the clients business who need frequent access to construction sites.
* Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with customers, project managers, and contractors to integrate HSE considerations into all stages of design and construction.
* Continual Improvement: Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance health, safety, and environmental outcomes across data centre construction sites. Work with Compliance to ensure these are included in clients processes.
* Record Keeping: Ensure that a digital record is clearly maintained of all things Construction H&S across sites. Allowing others to easily access when required.
* Project Meetings: Attend key project meeting to ensure H&S is kept at the forefront of our development sites.
