Key Purpose
You will be responsible for managing supplier risks and costs for the procurement of commodities for both materials and services related to Air Products Air Separation Units (ASU) and their associated satellite sites, as well as the newer H2FM sites. The role will include support on Distribution and Merchant Business for the customer engineering and packaged gases business units as required. You will act as a relationship manager with certain business groups and stakeholders to ensure that procurement is fully engaged with the business and service levels are maintained. Your role supports related commercial activities, particularly those focused around our suppliers and working with key suppliers to build a collaborative relationship. The role will be a split of tactical and strategic procurement. The aim is to deliver in the most efficient and effective manner to support our internal customers to enable the business to deliver to our customers. This role includes overseeing day-to-day relationship management, managing collaboration activities, and performance measurement.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key Job Responsibilities:
1. Manage, measure, and improve supplier and commodity cost competitiveness while ensuring continuous supply of high-quality products and services to achieve the lowest Total Cost of Ownership. Deliver year on year cost reduction and beat inflation costs that contribute to the regional target.
2. Ensure Procurement’s role in the organisation by effectively communicating with stakeholders and sharing success stories, ensuring all key spend is actively managed/controlled.
3. Drive supplier relationship management (SRM) initiatives with critical suppliers to extract the best value through partnership and driving supplier innovation while maintaining strong relationships with other suppliers to make Air Products a Customer-of-Choice.
4. Work with Engineering and technical teams to establish a cohesive approach to the technical and commercial development of key suppliers.
5. Minimise supply risks by proactively identifying high-risk suppliers and deploying a risk mitigation plan.
6. Lead and resolve supplier conflicts related to poor service or performance. Manage supplier service level agreements and enhance performance of contractors through supplier management programs.
7. Draft and implement supplier agreements, appraising their performance against agreed KPIs.
8. Lead the process to develop, negotiate, implement, and sustain the commodities strategies within the scope, aligned with business objectives.
9. Review/Negotiate terms and conditions, working with the legal team to ensure that all commercial and legal risks are mitigated through appropriate clauses.
10. Identify, screen, and qualify new suppliers to fill supply chain gaps, improve equipment performance, increase competition, and eliminate sole/single source situations.
11. Develop category plans and drive execution of the plan for cost and risk reduction and process improvement, focusing on the total cost of ownership. Implement strategies for the respective commodities within deadlines.
12. Share and communicate the category plans and provide regular updates with internal stakeholders.
13. Engage stakeholders at all levels to align with business and technical needs and priorities and to get the required support on the recommended strategy.
14. Identify areas for improvement in procurement to pay process or any other process related to specific business units or commodities, propose, agree, and implement the required changes for improvements.
15. Be disciplined and ensure that the right tools and systems are used.
16. Act as point of contact for Air Products production facilities teams.
17. Support site shutdown/outages.
18. Conduct RFP, RFQ events.
19. Approve purchase requests/orders and agreements, manage invoice issues, or any other type of commercial issues related to specific orders/agreement.
Although not limited to, some of the commodities and contracts that you will be responsible for procuring and/or managing are:
Equipment: Motors, Switchgears, control panels, UPS Systems, Heat Exchangers, Piping, Compressors
PICS: Analysers, pressure indicators, pressure gauges, pressure switches, valves
Maintenance and site services involving civil, scaffolding, installation, craneage, electricians.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or other discipline would be preferred.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience within a supply chain related discipline.
3. Proven experience in defining, leading, and developing Sourcing Strategies, understanding of purchasing terms and conditions and commercial acumen is required, as well as international market experience.
4. SAP ERP knowledge would be advantageous but not essential.
5. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
6. Self-disciplined, self-motivated, demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimal direction, and good analytical skills.
7. “Hands on” working mentality.
8. Demonstrate prioritization, planning, and follow-up skills in a multi-tasking environment.
9. Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage relationships at all levels in the organisation.
10. Understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
11. Capable of handling detailed contract negotiations.
