Main duties of the job
* Lead the multi-disciplinary Complex Needs Services Team, to ensure the assessment and provision of person-centred psychotherapeutic specialist health and social care, which promotes an individual's right to choose, independence, health, and wellbeing in line with their assessed needs and in a way that enables them to reach their full potential.
* Lead the Training and Vocational Initiatives in Personality training team, to ensure a high level of training is provided for all customers, increasing awareness, understanding and skills in working with those who have a personality disorders.
* Ensure the budget is managed effectively and that all resources are provided within the agreed budget.
* Ensure safe and therapeutic care in the community wherever possible reducing the need for inpatient treatment.
* Work alongside clinical specialists to develop an efficient and effective team that delivers on all the performance and quality standards.
* Provide professional leadership to the clinical teams ensuring clinical input into recruitment, supervision, appraisal, and professional development.
* Independently prioritise, maintain and manage a complex and highly specialist personal caseload.
* Take on Duty manager role across the organisation as required.
Job responsibilities
There are five main areas of responsibility:
Management
* Working alongside the service lead in the development of consistent standards across the service ensuring effective delivery of high quality, affordable and safe service.
* Line management of staff.
* Audit and evaluation of the service.
* Deputising for Service Lead.
* Identify and manage any risks that may impact on service delivery.
* Being part of Duty Manager system for the Trust.
* Manage budgets, recruitment, sickness, annual leave etc.
Clinical
* Facilitate groups.
* Carry out mental health assessments and develop formulations to ensure the identification, treatment and management of personality disorder and other mental health diagnosis.
* Work collaboratively with service users and their families.
* Ensure that services offered are culturally sensitive and appropriate.
* Actively seek the views of service users and their families to help shape the service.
* Be aware of service users needs in times of crisis and support staff to identify signs of mental health relapse.
* Provide clinical leadership both internally and externally.
Training & Development
* Develop a leadership culture where staff are empowered and encouraged to work to a continuous improvement model.
* Set up and maintain a staff induction programme.
* Ensure all staff attend supervision, have a PDR, complete mandatory training, and are able to access relevant training for their role.
* Act as a clinical supervisor for the psychotherapeutic programme.
* Work with ex-service users to deliver training.
Communication
* Work in partnership to develop clear and effective pathways for personality disorder.
* Liaise and communicate effectively and sensitively with other professionals, providing specialist advice as necessary.
* Provide a point of contact for external enquires and complaints concerning CNS and TVI-PD.
Service and Policy
* Interpret Local and National policy, using to inform and support strategic and operational planning.
* Ensure professional behaviour of all team members.
* Participate in the recruitment process.
* Ensure accurate records are maintained across the service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* RMN, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, psychotherapy or Clinical Psychology Professional Qualification.
* Clinical work with Adult/Older Adults with mental health needs.
* Advanced Assessment Skills Training.
Knowledge
* High level of knowledge/skills of work with those diagnosable with personality disorder.
* Clinical and legislative knowledge in mental health.
Skills
* Specialist training and experience in personality disorder.
* Wide ranging ability to undertake supervision of registered and non-registered staff.
* Risk assessment and management.
Experience
* Experience of working with personality disorder.
* Experience of Caseload management/highly complex and difficult clinical situations and cases.
* Experience of developing and leading service development and ability to demonstrate positive outcomes for patients and carers.
