Project Manager - Control Systems & Warehouse Automation
Position Overview:
Are you a proficient Project Manager with a strong technical background in control systems engineering or commissioning? Do you thrive in a client-facing role, spending time on client sites? We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with a minimum of 3 years experience in control systems-focused Project Management roles, accompanied by a technical knowledge of Control Systems acquired through field-based commissioning or technical engineering roles.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Effectively manage the electrical and control aspects of all projects, ensuring timely completion within budget and to agreed specifications, consistently exceeding customer expectations.
2. Communicate professionally and in a timely manner with internal personnel, external customers, consultants, and subcontractors.
3. Develop technical documents aligned with client requirements and contract specifications.
4. Review technical documents and oversee software functional tests for systems, ensuring adherence to project requirements.
5. Ensure comprehensive testing and quality checks of system components, meeting required standards.
6. Attend and actively participate in regular Project Reviews, collaborating with project staff to review planning and swiftly identify and address any issues.
7. Conduct regular visits to supplier premises and construction sites to monitor progress, quality, and future work planning.
8. Promptly identify and report variations to the department manager, facilitating internal and external processing of information and associated work. Prepare cost estimates to cover any changes/variations.
9. Prepare technical specifications (and drawings) for sub-contract equipment and participate in supplier tender assessments/negotiations.
10. Manage all aspects of subcontracted packages, from order to final acceptance.
11. Actively contribute to lessons-learned meetings.
Key Requirements:
Essential:
1. Proven Project Management experience within an Engineering environment.
2. Strong track record in the design and delivery of control systems.
3. Relevant qualification in Electrical Engineering.
4. Previous experience in site installation and management.
5. Ability to lead and motivate teams, both internal and subcontractors.
6. Customer-focused with excellent communication skills.
Desirable:
1. Background in the Material Handling/Automation Industry.
2. Proficiency in understanding PLC software.
3. Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
