Due to business growth, we are looking to recruit for an Electrical/Electronics Design Engineer for a leading manufacturing engineering company based North of York. This provides a rare opportunity to join a leading company who are a household name within their industry, allowing you to gain exposure to a large variety of different disciplines.
The main purpose of the role is to provide engineering design and support functions, under the instruction of more senior engineers. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or a related field with exposure to the design of electrical systems.
Hours: Monday - Thursday 0830 - 1630 / Friday 0830 - 1600
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide design input on projects, using the technical competencies listed below.
2. Produce engineering designs, specifications, and documentation to ISO 9001.
3. Assist in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals.
4. Offsite engineering support for new products.
5. Assist sales and marketing in the preparation of quotes and proposals.
6. Provide customer support.
7. Provide technical support to the production, logistics, and integration departments.
8. Work within the requirements of company procedures and national/international regulations.
Technical Competency
Essential
1. Design of analogue and digital electronic circuits and PCBs
2. Power distribution and protection equipment
3. Variable speed drives and soft-starts
4. Communication systems and protocols
5. PCB manufacturing, standards, and prototyping
6. Industrial sensors and equipment
Desirable
1. Wiring distribution systems
2. Electric motor types, designs, and specification
3. Video distribution, formats, conversion, and storage
4. Fibre optic multiplexers and ancillaries
5. Design of motor control electronic circuits and PCBs
6. Design of electrical power transmission systems
Qualifications & Skills:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related/equivalent subject.
* Demonstrable experience in an Electrical/Electronics Design Engineering role.
* Clear technical writing and good record keeping.
* Software Skills: MS Office, AutoCAD, MathCAD - PCB Design using Altium.
