Main duties of the job
1. Supporting the clinical service to the general medicine wards at UHNM including ward round attendance to facilitate medicines optimisation.
2. Training and development of rotational junior and trainee pharmacists in general medicine.
3. Reviewing adverse incident reports, attending governance meetings and educating medical and nursing teams on pharmaceutical issues.
4. Reviewing expenditure reports and developing cost improvement initiatives.

Essential Qualifications
1. Masters degree in Pharmacy (MPharm)
2. Member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
3. Postgraduate Clinical Pharmacy Diploma / MSc or equivalent qualification
4. Independent Prescriber with appropriate annotation on GPhC register or willing to undertake.
Desirable
1. Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS)
2. MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
3. Formal management and / or leadership qualification
Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
Essential
1. Comprehensive experience as a clinical pharmacist practitioner including a solid grounding in a broad range of clinical specialties.
2. Experience working as a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting.
3. Commitment and evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
4. Computer literate and able to use Windows applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and internet.
5. High standard of oral and written (including report writing) communication skills with attention to detail.
6. Able to demonstrate good leadership skills.
7. Good and broad understanding of current hospital pharmacy practice and future direction of travel.
8. IT skills and knowledge of the digital medicines agenda.
9. Able to appraise information / data and use in solving problems.
10. Good knowledge of the medicines safety, risk management and governance agenda and its application to the clinical role.
11. Good knowledge of evidence-based medicine, formulary application / management processes and drug use evaluation.
12. Interest in expanding knowledge and self-development including networking within the speciality.
Desirable
1. Clinical pharmacy experience within general medicine - diabetes and endocrinology and an enthusiasm to develop this.
2. Evidence of involvement in pharmacy practice research and/or audit.
3. Publication of research in a peer reviewed journal.
4. Experience providing education, training and supervision of staff.
5. Experience line managing and/or conducting formal appraisals.
6. Evidence of involvement in writing of guidelines.
7. Presentation of abstract on pharmacy practice research at a regional or national conference.
