Job reference (CRS-H, P413734)
We are looking to employ a Personal Assistant for our 11-year-old son, who lives in Bedale.
You will need to have experience with children with autism, especially PDA (pathological demand avoidance) and OCD. You will need to help our son manage social interactions with peers and a sense of personal safety when around other children.
You must be energetic, have good communication skills, a sense of humour, and patience. A driving licence would be preferable as taking him on days out will also be required.
Examples of activities include:
1. Escorting our son to various parks within walking distance. He may take a bike or scooter and play games using the park facilities.
2. Escorting him on bus rides into Northallerton or other agreed destinations.
3. Escorting him to places of interest and eating out if possible.
4. Taking him swimming.
5. During bad weather, participating in gaming within our home. Gaming knowledge would be beneficial, especially Fortnite, Minecraft, and Teardown.
6. Helping our son take our dogs for walks, allowing him to bond more positively with them.
The hourly rate will be £12.10 per hour. There will be no expectations for any personal care for him. Hours will be 12 hours per week during term time and 14 hours a week during school holiday periods. We are looking for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3pm to 7pm, collecting him from his school in Bedale. During school holidays, the days will be the same but earlier in the day (i.e., 12pm to 5pm for 2 days and then 12pm to 4pm for the third). There will be some flexibility regarding days, but Tuesdays during term time will definitely be essential. There may also be some weekend work accompanying the family on days out.
All expenses will be reimbursed where necessary (i.e., entry for swimming, food, and drink for our son).
You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year (pro rata), but you will be required to take 2 weeks to coincide with our holiday periods (usually the last two weeks of August). This post is subject to satisfactory references and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Clearance. For further information and an application form, please contact via UKCIL.
