IT Support Engineer - Bristol area
Job Summary
As an On-Site IT Support Engineer, you will be integral to maintaining IT infrastructure for one of our key customers in Bristol. In this 12-month contract role, you’ll provide vital first-line support, ensuring seamless operation of IT systems and equipment. With hands-on responsibilities, this role offers the chance to enhance IT stability and user satisfaction in a dynamic, industrial setting.
What you’ll be doing:
* Respond to and resolve IT support requests via phone, email, or ITSM ticketing system.
* Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
* Configure, deploy, and maintain laptops, desktops, and other peripherals.
* Manage printer issues, including hardware repairs and software configurations.
* Ensure compliance with company security policies and perform daily system checks.
* Maintain and organise IT asset inventory to ensure accuracy.
* Create and update IT process documentation and generate helpdesk performance reports.
You'll also:
* Provide training for end-users on various software applications and IT systems.
* Support continuous improvement by staying up-to-date with the latest IT trends and recommending enhancements.
Here's what we're looking for:
* Proven experience in an IT support role, ideally in an industrial or power station environment.
* Strong knowledge of Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Familiarity with ITSM tools, hardware troubleshooting, and helpdesk ticketing systems.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Bonus points:
* Experience with network troubleshooting, remote desktop tools, and VPN/network security tools.
* Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Professional, or ITIL Foundation).
* Knowledge of PowerShell or Python for automation tasks.
* Familiarity with server hardware like HP ProLiant and tools like ManageEngine Service Desk Plus.
