The Production Manager (Factory Boss) is responsible for managing all aspects of on-vessel seafood production. This includes supervising and coordinating the activities of production and factory workers to ensure efficient operations, high-quality output, and compliance with all regulations. The Production Manager will play a vital role in factory capacity planning, quality management, and driving process improvements in the production facilities. Prior experience as a fisher is a mandatory requirement for this position.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee all on-vessel seafood production processes, ensuring the highest quality standards are met.
2. Supervise and coordinate the activities of production and factory workers, ensuring respect and professionalism among all crew members.
3. Collaborate with the Captain, relief team, and shore sales team to achieve production goals.
4. Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company policies and regulations.
5. Maintain and foster a strong safety culture onboard the vessel.
6. Monitor and manage production within the specifications of the Quality Management Program (QMP).
7. Ensure proper grading, cooking, freezing, and quality control for FAS shrimp production.
8. Provide regular updates and required information to the bridge crew and shore-based sales team.
9. Collaborate with engineers to ensure equipment is functioning properly and safely.
10. Keep the production area clean and organized, adhering to company standards under the Captain's direction.
11. Conduct and maintain an accurate inventory of all factory supplies and packaging.
12. Upon vessel arrival, inventory and assess factory orders from the current trip on a rotational basis.
13. Ensure all required certifications and training, such as Marine Medical, Marine First Aid, WHMIS, Fishing License, and MED/DVS, are current and kept onboard at all times.
Qualifications
1. Extensive knowledge of FAS shrimp production processes, including grading, cooking, freezing, and quality management.
2. Strong knowledge of DFO and CFIA regulations related to seafood production.
3. Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Mechanical aptitude is an asset.
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with 12-hour shifts for up to 45 days.
6. Valid Marine Medical, Marine Emergency Duties (MED) Certificate, and Fishing License are required.
Work Environment
1. Rotation: Trip-on, trip-off schedule.
2. Teamwork: Collaborate closely with relief Production Managers, the Captain, the Mate, and engineers to ensure efficient operations and high-quality production.
3. Expectations: Maintain a clean and organized cabin and respect all crew members' and company property.
