Job summary The Deputy Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for providing operational management and support of our quality and safety team in delivering on the Trust's quality agenda, including but not exhaustive of- concerns, incidents, patient experience, risk management, and mortality. The successful candidate will provide the support manager function to the Quality and Safety Lead, the Head of Nursing, and the Director of Cancer Services to ensure that the quality agenda and services aredelivered to the professional and regulatory standards and guidance. The successful postholder, together with the Quality and Safety Lead will support the division in complying with Duty of Quality and Putting Things Right Regulations, delivering the requirements of the Velindre University NHS Trust Quality Framework reviewing and triangulating themes, with a focus on learning and improvement. The postholder will work proactively and lead on aspects of the quality and safety agenda and support the clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure that quality and safety is at the centre of all services. Main duties of the job Be responsible for working collaboratively with VCC colleagues and VUNHST Trust Quality and Safety team, including clinical staff and senior managers to support the reporting, monitoring, investigation, and follow-up actions of all aspects of quality and safety including concerns, incidents, patient experience, and mortality. Communicate effectively both internally, and with external bodies such as the National Patient Safety Agency, the Welsh Risk Pool, NHS Executive, Health Boards, and Welsh Government on relevant aspects of quality and safety. Ensure that lessons from patient safety incidents and concerns are identified and learned, and that there are effective mechanisms in place for sharing the lessons widely both internally and externally. Support the development and delivery of robust policies, processes, systems for all aspects of the quality and safety agenda, identifying and addressing barriers to progress. Line manage the Quality and Safety team ensuring PADR, annual leave, return to work and ESR is managed in line with Trust policies.
