Main duties of the job The post holder will provide early input of specialist care to oncology patients presenting with oncological emergencies. This role will consist of working with emergency Acute Oncology Pathways and involve working with multiple disciplinary nursing medical, administration and operational teams. The post holder will contribute to the delivery and evaluation of evidence-based patient care throughout the acute treatment pathway. They will have responsibilities for assessing the needs of the acutely unwell cancer patient, liaising with the oncology teams and the wider multidisciplinary teams across the Trust and KMCA to promote coordinated care. The post holder will be expected to make clinical judgements on complex facts requiring interpretation and comparing options to ensure appropriate patient care and safety, thereby enabling faster, safer and better quality of care to patients with complications of Systemic Anticancer Treatment (SACT) or radiotherapy.
