We are looking for compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants with experience in working with children and/or adults who can display challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will need to have a passion for supporting students’ mental health and assist with creating a nurturing learning environment. The successful TA will be working closely with staff and students in order to effectively assist and guide students through any challenges that they may have.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide one-on-one or small group support sessions for students, focusing on strategies to support emotional regulation and self-care techniques.
2. Assist in the development and implementation of education plans for students with mental health concerns.
3. Support the class teacher in implementing bespoke lessons to students.
4. Monitor students' progress and communicate effectively with teachers.
5. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant privacy and safeguarding laws and regulations.
6. Support teacher in managing the behaviour and specialist needs of the young people.
Qualifications:
1. Team Teach trained, or willing to partake in a 2 day Team Teach training course.
2. Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational or mental health setting. We will also consider those with experience supporting adults with similar needs.
3. Strong understanding of mental health issues affecting students, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
5. Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle crisis situations effectively.
6. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health support for students.
7. Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of child safeguarding and ability to respond to such concerns effectively and efficiently.
School staff will be working term time, from 08:30 – 15:30. This role will involve working with young people of Primary and/or Secondary ages.
