We are seeking to recruit an experienced clinical practitioner (nurse or AHP) to join our team at Leigh Urgent Treatment Centre - formerly Walk in Centre.
The service operational hours are:
WIC – 7am – 9.15pm
The service operates 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
You will be offered regular training and supervision provided by our ACP team and will be expected to cascade informal teaching within the unit. Senior clinicians are actively encouraged to offer suggestions and ideas for innovative and creative pathways to drive the service forward.
Main Duties of the Job
You will join an established, friendly team of practitioners and will be positive, creative thinking individuals who are motivated, influential, and have the ability to work under pressure.
As a registered practitioner, you must be able to demonstrate significant clinical experience preferably within A&E, Walk in Centre or Primary Care. You need to be highly motivated and prepared to continue to develop your clinical skills.
The role will involve the assessment, diagnosis, and management of a diverse caseload of minor injury and minor illness. You will be expected to request and interpret a range of investigations and have the ability to recognise and respond to urgent and emergency situations quickly.
The successful candidate will be expected to lead the team and offer clinical supervision and advice to developing clinicians as well as liaise with other teams within WWL.
Detailed Job Description and Main Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
* Responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service, ensuring that clinical care is organised to meet the needs of the individual whilst ensuring patient safety.
* Provide and deliver specialist care to patients with minor injuries/illnesses.
* Make autonomous clinical decisions and carry responsibility for them, including discharge or referral of patients to appropriate services.
* Act as a leader, motivating staff.
* Develop and deliver teaching programmes, undertake relevant training, assess competence, provide clinical supervision and support in the clinical environment.
Planning and Organisational Duties
* Manage and develop the team of Practitioners, providing an autonomous, evidence-based Practitioner service.
* Undertake additional training to develop specialist skills and knowledge as appropriate.
* Ensure that staff adheres to Trust procedures and protocols.
* Responsible for ensuring compliance with local and national targets.
* Arrange the reception, transfer, and discharge of patients in accordance with the unit’s policies and procedures.
* Ensure that effective communication is maintained both within the department and with other relevant external agencies or individuals.
* Organise and prioritise personal workload, adjusting priorities, coordinating care, and delegating work in an ever-changing environment.
* Recognise and respond appropriately to issues requiring urgent or immediate attention.
* Provide support to the organisation in the maintenance of equipment to ensure quality control standards are met.
* Ensure self and staff comply with Trust’s policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
* Participate in the Trust’s quality monitoring programme.

* Evidence of involvement in research.
Qualifications
* RGN/AHP
* Evidence of or working towards Nurse Practitioner Degree or hold relevant practitioner certificate equivalent
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Non-medical prescribing
* Accredited teaching/assessing certificate.
