As a Head Chef at one of their care homes in Leeds, you will have the opportunity to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long hours. You will have full autonomy in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus, while also taking ownership of your kitchen and ongoing team development.
Main duties of the job
As a Head Chef at Barchester Healthcare, you will be responsible for leading, motivating and inspiring a team to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked to the highest standards. You will develop and tailor menus around the residents to ensure person-centred hospitality, using fresh seasonal produce. You will also assist the front-of-house team with setting up the dining areas, work within budget, complete regular audits and stock control, and create a warm, efficient and fun environment. Your Experience and Qualifications
9. A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
10. Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
11. Experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team
12. Experience of working with fresh seasonal food with a good understanding of nutrition
13. The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our homes
14. Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
15. Experience working with a front of house team to ensure the restaurants are set up to a high standard
16. Good understanding of HACCP and COSHH
17. Knowledge around modified diets using the IDDSI framework (If new to care, we will train and develop chefs on these techniques)

21. Bake fresh cakes, scones and breads from scratch
22. Assist the front of house team with setting up of the dining areas

This fantastic academy experience is held throughout the year and is offered to all of our chefs.
Our internal Learning and Development team also offer industry recognised apprenticeships and further qualifications to chefs and hospitality team members who are looking to build upon and/or develop their skills.

27. You will need to hold a City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification, have experience in leading, motivating and inspiring a team, and have a good understanding of HACCP and COSHH.
