We are the leading provider of mental health, learning disabilities, and substance misuse services in Derby city and Derbyshire county. We also provide a wide range of children’s services. We employ over 2,400 staff based in over 60 locations across the whole of Derbyshire. Across the county and the city, we serve a combined population of approximately one million people.
Our story
Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established on 1 February 2011 when Monitor, the independent regulator of health services in England, authorised Derbyshire Mental Health Services NHS Trust to become a Foundation Trust.
In April 2011, we became the provider of children’s universal and specialist services for Derby city following a successful tender process.
As part of the Transforming Community Services (TCS) programme, community paediatric services and substance misuse services were also transferred into the organisation from NHS Derby City.

Job overview
An exciting new opportunity for a Clinical Lead has arisen at Kedleston Unit, our low secure inpatient service for males.
The team delivers intensive, comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatments and care for patients who demonstrate disturbed behaviour in the context of a serious mental disorder and must be in a secure setting.
The service is commissioned by IMPACT East Midlands, our provider collaborative who we work closely with. Referrals come from regional medium-secure units, prisons, Ministry of Justice recalls, Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and acute adult wards. There are 20 beds at the Kedleston Unit: Curzon ward is an eight-bedded assessment ward and Scarsdale ward is a 12-bedded rehabilitation ward.
The Kedleston Unit team are members of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' Forensic Quality Network. They are active members in peer service review and sharing of good practice through the network.

Within your role you will:
* Provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered and to improve the quality of care.
* Be responsible for ensuring the monitoring and maintenance of standards of care that support safe high-quality practice throughout the twenty-four hour period in a low secure setting.
* Provide advice, support and healthy challenge within the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
* Supervise and promote staff development.
* Ensure a nurturing learning environment focusing on safe clinical practice and staff wellbeing.
* Demonstrate robust knowledge of clinical and environmental risk assessment and risk management in a forensic mental health setting.
* Use your exceptional skills in relevant clinical documentation, including HCR20’s, Ministry of Justice reports and care planning; supporting staff to meet agreed standards.

Essential criteria
* Qualified and Registered Mental Health Nurse.
* Relevant post registration experience of working with people with severe mental health conditions and a forensic history.
* Educated to Diploma/Degree Level (i.e. Dip HE Nursing).
Desirable criteria
* Evidence of post-registration training in mental health.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Non Medical Prescriber.
* Professional Nurse Advocate.
