Estimator for well established Sheffield Engineering business - PERM ROLE - salary circa £45k - excellent benefits and prospects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Dealing with all NEW enquiries in a timely manner, you will be ensuring the estimate is accurate and covers the full scope of supply and technical standards detailed by the drawings and customer specification. You will also ensure that the calculation software is updated with the latest material and labour costs and margins to generate the price. You will be responsible for the timely and accurate issuing of quotations in line with customer's expectations, finalising the price after agreement and discussion with the Senior Management Team as appropriate.
You will be responsible for ensuring the administration team deals with the following:
1. Order entry
2. Order acknowledgment
3. Live quotations, issued but not yet won
4. Outstanding enquiries
5. Customer active order review
6. Customer queries and enquiries
The Internal Sales Manager is responsible for reviewing the processes managed and implementing improvements.
Planning:
The estimator, together with the Internal Sales Manager, will monitor the activity of the planning department and offer guidance and support as required to ensure the planning process is completed in a timely and accurate way.
Manage and Motivate:
The management and motivation of staff is another key dimension of this role. The Job Holder will need to ensure that individuals have a clear understanding of their targets and objectives and that the expectations of them are consistent with their abilities and training.
Additional areas of responsibility to look into:
1. Percentage of Tenders returned on time and number of 'unplanned' extensions requested.
2. Estimated direct labour and material costs against actual costs variance attributed to estimating errors.
3. The number of errors on the estimates recorded via NCR System.
4. The number and value of estimates and quotations.
5. The conversion rate for quotations.
