Company Description:
* Our client is a specialist real estate investment and asset management business focused on unlocking value in commercial and residential properties.
* They are now looking to add to their team with a Project Director / Construction Director who can deliver a large commercial office project.
Role Description:
* Lead and manage multiple construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline objectives.
* Develop and implement construction strategies aligned with the company’s real estate development goals.
* Oversee project budgets, cost control, and financial reporting to ensure profitability and resource efficiency.
* Manage and mentor project managers, construction teams, and external contractors to achieve project objectives.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal authorities to ensure smooth project execution.
* Identify and mitigate construction-related risks to ensure safety, compliance, and operational continuity.
* Ensure projects adhere to building codes, zoning regulations, and health and safety standards.
* Oversee procurement processes and negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
* Develop and monitor project schedules to ensure timely delivery of construction milestones.
* Promote sustainable building practices and implement innovative construction technologies.
* Track project performance, ensuring continuous improvement and high-quality outcomes.
* Prepare and present regular updates on project progress, risks, and financial status to senior leadership.
* Serve as a key point of contact for clients, investors, and stakeholders regarding construction activities and progress.
Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree is a plus).
* Proven experience of delivering commercial office projects in the UK.
* 10+ years of experience in real estate development and large-scale construction project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Proven track record in managing multiple complex real estate projects from start to finish.
* Strong understanding of construction processes, building codes, zoning regulations, and health and safety standards.
* Experience in financial planning, cost estimation, and resource allocation for large-scale projects.
* Ability to lead and inspire multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, contractors, and consultants.
* Expertise in negotiating contracts, managing procurement processes, and vendor relationships.
* Proficiency in identifying risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies in construction projects.
* Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and construction software (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD).
* Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and emerging construction technologies.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting and engaging with stakeholders.
* Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
* Comprehensive understanding of local, regional, and international construction regulations.
* Capacity to address challenges and find innovative solutions to keep projects on track.
