Mercury Hampton are delighted to work with our Client who are a respected and well established business within the Heat transfer industry. Supplying many industries including, Marine, Nuclear, Oil & Gas and many more.
They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Engineering & Quality Manager to oversee the engineering and quality assurance processes within the company. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of quality control engineers to ensure that all welding, brazing and fabrication projects meets required standards for quality, safety, and compliance. The Engineering & Quality Manager will play a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, assessing product designs for manufacturability, and optimizing production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of quality control engineers to ensure successful execution of welding, brazing and fabrication projects.
Develop and implement quality control processes to monitor production output and identify areas for improvement.
Conduct regular audits of welding and fabrication processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess product designs for manufacturability and suggest design improvements to optimize manufacturing processes.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts to address quality issues and prevent reoccurrence.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the quality of raw materials and components used in the manufacturing process.
Guide, support, audit and check production & warehouse operations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of welding, fabrication and other operations.
Develop and maintain documentation related to engineering designs, quality procedures eg ITPs and manufacturing processes for MoD, power generation and a range of other customer types.
Organise and host notified body and customer inspections.
Report status on Communication Cells.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering preferred &/ or requisite experience.
At least 5 years of experience in engineering and quality management within the welding & fabrication industry.
Strong knowledge of welding processes, metal fabrication techniques, and quality control standards.
Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Proficiency in quality management tools and methodologies such as 8D, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Analysis.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Quality certifications such as Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) are strongly preferred.
