Role description:
As part of the team, the Media Kitchen Technician will play a vital role in providing a day-to-day service to the various Colorifix Research & Development teams across multiple sites. The ideal candidate should be looking for a new challenge in a fast-moving, collaborative environment with a willingness to learn and the flexibility to adapt to and deal with changing exigencies. One of the primary functions of this role will involve the timely production of sterile microbial culture media for the research teams, thus requiring excellent attention to detail whilst being able to accurately follow SOPs and recipes to ensure standardisation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Timely manufacture of media, sterile supplies, and antibiotic stocks for use in plates and bottled media, alongside pouring of plates.
2. Responsible for collection of glassware from all laboratories for washing, sterilisation, and restocking.
3. Responsible for collection and separation of laboratory waste streams for processing and disposal via the appropriate routes.
4. Operating autoclaves and Laboratory glass washer.
5. Assist with the maintenance, calibration, and servicing of laboratory equipment.
6. Work closely with the Lab Manager and Laboratory Operations Coordinator to maintain consumable and reagent stock levels for all laboratories.
7. Receive and distribute deliveries to the appropriate storage spaces.
8. Ensure regular turnover of clean lab coats (autoclave, wash & restock).
9. Be organised and pay particular attention to housekeeping of the laboratory spaces.
Essential skills and experience:
1. Good communicator and flexible team player.
2. Organised with a hands-on, proactive approach.
3. Ability to repeatedly follow standard operating procedures to the correct standard.
Desirable skills and experience:
1. Previous laboratory experience, ideally in a similar role.
2. Biological degree or equivalent experience.
3. Ability to troubleshoot and identify bottlenecks.

Remuneration: £24,750-£26,000 (DOE)
