Role: Regional Operations Manager

As the Regional Operations Manager for Five Star Crew, you will play a pivotal role in leading and growing our event crewing operations within your designated current regions across England and Wales, as well as identifying new opportunities across new territories. You will be responsible for managing a small full-time team and overseeing a large pool of casual staff across various city bases. The primary focus will be on maintaining and expanding our operations in line with the company ethos and high standards, while continuously fostering positive crew relations.
Reports to: Operations Director
Direct or shared Reports: People Operations Coordinator, Resource Planner, Crew Chiefs
Leadership and Team Management
• Lead and inspire a small full-time team, providing clear direction and support.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
• Manage senior crew and crew chiefs effectively including overseeing regular feedback sessions and encouraging their input to the daily business activities.
• Liaise with Resource Planner regarding optimum scheduling for the regions.
Crew Operations \t
• Oversee and optimize the allocation of casual staff for events in the region.
• Ensure that crewing operations meet and exceed the company’s high standards.
• Identify and pursue opportunities for growth within the region.
• Develop strategies to attract new clients and retain existing ones.
• Allocate drivers and vehicles to Out of Town jobs.
• Do routine vehicle inspections and arrange MOTs and maintenance when necessary.
• Be responsible for scheduling crew, where possible 48 hours in advance.
• Spread the crew strength evenly across the region in accordance with Five Star’s ideal crew mix matrix.
• Maximize the crew’s work hours whilst adhering to our health and safety policy.
• Ensure Crew consistency on jobs with multiple bookings.
Quality Assurance:
• Ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of your Region(s).
• Implement and maintain quality control measures to uphold the company’s commitment to professionalism and efficiency.
• Conduct regular evaluations to ensure the continuous improvement of crew performance.
• Ensure all crew have completed profiles on our scheduling system.
• Work closely with your team to create reports on crew performances and allocation.
• Manage the stock and assets inventory and monthly stock take.
• Fleet Management: Ensure regional vehicles are well-maintained and adhere to high standards. Rotate vehicles efficiently on projects, and comply with monthly reporting.
• Site Visits: Allocate operations team members to various site visits to uphold quality.
• Recruitment: Collaborate with the HR and marketing teams to plan, implement, and roll out recruitment strategies.
Crew Relations:
• Establish and nurture positive relationships with casual staff.
• Implement initiatives to enhance crew satisfaction, motivation, and loyalty.
• Provide training, mentorship, and support to the team across all aspects ofthe industry.
• Uphold the Five Star values: Teamwork, Enjoyment, Consistency, Achievement, Trust.
Training and Development:
• Coordinate training programs to ensure that casual staff are well-equipped fortheir roles.
• Identify opportunities for skill development and advancement within the crew.
Out of Hours:
• The candidate will;
• Be available to the crew 24 hours a day on a 5-week rotation including weekends.
• Allocate any new work that comes in.
• Resolve any issues or emergencies that may arise.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a managerial role within the event or crewing industry.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to drive business growth and meet targets.
• Understanding of event industry standards and practices.
