Job summary Due to expanding our workforce within Haematology we are looking for a highly motivated nurse consultant with experience in Haematology. You will become part of our expanding, exciting and outward looking team and will have the opportunity to work together with the multi-disciplinary team to make a difference in the care of our Haematology patients. We are looking for a dynamic, strategic thinker with experience of working in Haematology to provide leadership, clinical expertise, in the development of our Haematology service. The suitable candidate would have experience of working within Haematology and therefore have knowledge of all Haematological conditions and treatments. The post holder will be required to work on our 18 bedded Haematology ward and have outpatient clinics. The post holder will also act as a point of contact for other specialties with regards to treatment of Haematology patients outside our bed base, including those attending our Acute Oncology service, chemo day units and medical infusion unit. Main duties of the job The Nurse Consultant within haematology will demonstrate highly developed specialist knowledge and skills in the diagnosis and management of haematology patients throughout their pathway. That pathway may be either in the in-patient or the outpatient clinic setting, including acute assessment and chemotherapy day centres. The Nurse Consultant will work as part of the haematology team across all three sites, working within the scope of haematology care. They will exercise advanced clinical expertise, levels of judgement, discretion and decision making in clinical care, which may include highly complex disease presentation. The Nurse Consultant will be equipped with advanced clinical skills and knowledge demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of the patient group and determine patient treatments, pathways and access to additional specialities/services, prescribing or administering treatments or referring as appropriate to other specialists. The Nurse Consultant will contribute to Haematology governance and business meetings, as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
