Job summary We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated housekeeper to work in our hospital. The housekeeper is a valued support member helping to ensure that the ward is pleasant for all patients and staff. The main focus of the post holder is to facilitate the maintenance of a safe and comfortable environment whilst maintaining patient privacy, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values. As a housekeeper you will provide internal supply chain services such as ordering, receipting, distributing and recording goods delivered to the ward using our computerized and manual systems. You will unpack and check delivered items against delivery/order information and action any discrepancies. You will also liaise with a range of people and replenish stock as needed. This role can be busy but rewarding with tight timescales to ensure our nursing teams have sufficient stock at all times. The role requires some physical effort (moving cages, boxes and parcels) but training in safe manual handling techniques will be provided. Main duties of the job To facilitate the rapid availability of required consumables and equipment on Ward 7A. Inputs basic stock order sheets onto the correct electronic ordering system. Assists in the loading and unloading of goods. Ensures all orders/deliveries are received in acceptable condition and if the goods are not in acceptable state, then the ward manager is informed. Receives goods through Receipt & Distribution (stores), checks against the details on the advice/delivery notes and if correct they are signed for wit the advice/delivery notes being retained for audit purposes and a record of the receipt entered onto the appropriate computerised system. Ensures empty roll cages are collected from corridors and returned to the supply chain collection point, in a routine and timely manner. Liaises with the procurement officer for any items that may have been returned for disposal. Disposes of any items, in the appropriate manner, as directed by procedure or procurement officer. To contribute towards the compliance of safety checklists, maintain compliance with CQC standards. To support the rapid assessment and delivery of care according to agreed protocols and national guidance within a 7-day service by regular assessment of available stores and location. To work to maintain and improve the availability of required equipment on Ward 7A in order for demand to be met. Actively participate in service development.
