The post holder will be professionally qualified and a highly effective leader and will be responsible for the day to day management of the reactive workforce issues and co-ordinate the interface between the Engineering team and capital projects.
The post holder will ensure that budgetary controls are in place in line with the Trust's financial policies and Standing Financial Instructions (SFI).
The post holder will work under their own initiative and be responsible for developing policy and protocols necessary for smooth operation of the Essentia Engineering team.
The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing a group of multi-skilled professional technical staff and be responsible for co-ordinating and reviewing the progress of all schemes to ensure the infrastructure is compliant with the various requirements and take initiative to learn about the various systems to gain knowledge to pass on to train colleagues within the operational teams.
The post holder will be responsible for providing detailed analysis of such information and will devise and supply regular reports on information received and will communicate that in the most appropriate format including, but not exclusively, verbal, written and electronic formats to all levels of the organisations both internally and externally to ensure contract and budgetary compliance.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for ensuring that there are sufficient trained persons when necessary, to undertake authorised person and competent persons for:
1. High Voltage Electricity
2. Low Voltage Electricity
3. Piped Medical Gases
4. Ventilation Systems
5. Responsible person duties for Legionella
6. Confined Spaces
Responsible for ensuring that the services for calibrating and maintaining highly specialist equipment associated with standby emergency generators and large industrial boiler plant, programmable logic controllers and various other computerised building control systems are managed in a safe and competent manner.
Liaise with and support contractors as required in connection with technical information, standardisation of equipment and parts regarding compatibility with existing hospital services and equipment.
Deputise for the Site Engineering Manager in their absence to support them with their responsibilities including HR matters, performance compliance and health and safety duties, and any other operational duties as required.
Ensure that the procedures and systems within the department meet all legislative and statutory requirements.
