The role is to undertake the affordability checks relating to the re-designed and improved Residential Third-Party Top Up process. (For info a Third-party provider payment is the difference between the weekly cost of the home and LCC banded rate, which we subsequently recover from the Third Party). The role will be integral to our large progressive and diverse team and will work in a fast paced and modern finance environment. To enable the collection of £56m of social care income across thousands of Service Users, and £160m of expenditure per annum to hundreds of social care providers and customers. As part of the Debt Resolution Team, we want you to be able to support our customers in the best way to resolve debt related issues, and disputes, with this in mind your customer service skills will be key. The role is to process an online calculation aimed at reducing the level of third-party debt. You will be client-driven, understand the fundamentals of finance and debt processes and be motivated to deliver change. This post will provide an excellent opportunity to gain experience and understanding of Local Government Finance by being a member of Corporate Resources, collaborating with key stakeholders and partners across all levels. About You We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, focused and committed to: Reduce Third Party debt, by ensuring those nominated to pay a top up are best placed to do so. Customer Skills are important as the role will involve a hands on approach with regular contact with Social Services and members of the public. Work with service areas to identify the root causes of invoice queries, improve query resolution and reduce delay payment Agree and arrange instalment repayment plans in line with agreed processes and collate write off schedules for processing Build strong working relationships with service areas and customers to aid improved query resolution and timely collection of debts due Have good IT skills are essential to this role and the ability to communicate effectively in writing, face to face and by telephone including being able to manage challenging conversations Have a strong time management skills with the ability to manage a portfolio of accounts You must also have an understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities, and the ability to apply this to all situations.
