HCD UX Interaction Designer

We are seeking a passionate and experienced HCD UX Interaction Designer specialising in Human-Centred Design (HCD) to join our dynamic team. This role is instrumental in driving the design and delivery of innovative, user-centric solutions that align with client objectives and end-user needs. As a HCD Designer, you will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to apply HCD principles across diverse projects, championing best practices in research, design, and usability.

All applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo National Security Vetting (NSV) Security Check (SC) level.
Your future duties and responsibilities
1. Lead the end-to-end design process, from discovery to delivery, ensuring all solutions meet user needs and business goals.
2. Develop and communicate compelling design strategies, incorporating HCD methodologies to inform decision-making.
3. Mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
4. Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research, including user interviews, usability testing, workshops, and surveys.
5. Analyse research findings to derive actionable insights, creating user personas, journey maps, and service blueprints.
6. Create wireframes, prototypes, and design artefacts to communicate concepts and gather stakeholder feedback.
7. Use tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite to deliver high-fidelity designs when required.
8. Work closely with clients to identify their needs, articulate challenges, and propose user-centric solutions.
9. Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to convey design rationale and build stakeholder alignment.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product owners, and business analysts, to ensure seamless implementation of designs.
11. Advocate for HCD principles within project teams and broader organisational contexts, ensuring accessibility and inclusivity are prioritised.
12. Stay updated with emerging trends in HCD, UX/UI design, and digital transformation to inform innovative practices.
13. Contribute to the development of internal frameworks, tools, and methodologies to advance the HCD discipline.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
1. Proven experience in Human-Centred Design, UX/UI design, or similar roles.
2. Expertise in HCD principles, design thinking, and agile delivery frameworks.
3. Strong user research skills, with the ability to turn complex insights into actionable design solutions.
4. Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure, Adobe XD).
5. Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to present complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences.
6. Demonstrate ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
7. A creative problem solver with a user-first mindset.
8. Collaborative and team-oriented, with a strong commitment to delivering value for clients.
9. Adaptable, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
10. Passionate about creating inclusive and accessible solutions that make a meaningful impact.
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience with service design, including creating service blueprints and ecosystem maps.
2. Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
3. Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS) to facilitate collaboration with development teams.
4. Relevant certifications in UX design, HCD, or Agile methodologies.
