Our specialist children’s epilepsy service is part of the wider children and young people’s community nursing service. You will join a team who are passionate about delivering excellent clinical nursing care and support to our patients with epilepsy. The role offers a valuable opportunity to be part of a growing and innovative service, to display your nursing expertise and make a difference where it matters. You will be supported by our Epilepsy Clinical Nurse Specialist.
We are looking for a compassionate and committed colleague with a passion for nursing children and young people with epilepsy. You will have an extensive portfolio of relevant nursing skills which will support the needs of our patients. If you share our passion for excellence, then we would love to speak to you.
Following a period of induction, you will work autonomously managing a caseload of children and young people with epilepsy, assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their nursing care. Your activities will be varied, including, but not limited to supporting clinics, delivering clinical interventions, training parents, carers and staff from other agencies, and working with multi-professional and multi-agency colleagues to support our children to achieve their best outcomes. No two days are the same, but each day counts.
You will be providing specialist nursing skills, knowledge and expertise in the care and management of children and young people with complex epilepsy, particularly those on multiple anticonvulsants and receiving or referred to tertiary epilepsy care. You will support the child and young person, family and carers holistically, in response to their specific needs relating to epilepsy, maximising their independence and quality of life.
We are a service that is inclusive and welcoming. We are committed to working together, valuing and respecting every team member’s contribution to providing the highest standard of care to the children, young people and families we support. You can expect respectful and compassionate managerial and clinical supervision. We are committed to offering a range of opportunities for further professional development.
