This role is a rotational post which will allow you to experience initial management to later stage rehabilitation of orthopaedic injuries and musculoskeletal conditions and contribute to improvement and development of the service.
You Will Spend 8 Months On Each Rotation Covering:
* Virtual Fracture clinic
* Virtual Fracture clinic and emergency department (currently 3 days and 2 days respectively)
* Trauma & Orthopaedic inpatients including general trauma ward, fractured neck of femur ward and orthopaedic outliers including day surgery.
* MSK outpatient physiotherapy
* As an autonomous practitioner, to provide advanced assessment and treatment for a range of highly complex patients on 8-month rotations across MSK outpatients, trauma and orthopaedic inpatients, Emergency Department (ED) /Urgent Care Centre (UTC); minor injuries and Virtual Fracture Clinic.
* To use a variety of tools to provide assessment and treatment plans including in person, over the phone and using multi-media and bespoke software programs.
* To work directly with on call orthopaedic consultants to support diagnosing and initial management of patients acute injuries referred to the virtual fracture clinic.
* To use advanced clinical reasoning to establish treatment plans for complex orthopaedic and musculoskeletal patients and be able to monitor these during the patient pathway.
* To use advanced clinical reasoning skills to provide specialist support and advice to the wider multidisciplinary team across all rotations.
* To be able to build a rapport with patients over the phone and via video link for initial management of acute injuries.
* To supervise, teach and appraise Band 5 Physiotherapists, technicians, assistants, students and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
* To participate in CPD, IST, audit, evidence-based projects and service development projects which may include making recommendations for change in practice.
