Our client’s HGV Drivers do more than a ‘driving job’. It’s about driving quality and ensuring their customers get the best impression of their organisation. You will be the ‘face’ of the business, not just a Delivery Driver. It’s all about making a good impression with your appearance, manner and the look of your vehicle. Ensuring goods are delivered in a first-class condition, completing all necessary paperwork and above all, leaving everyone you meet with a really positive impression of you and their business.
You will be responsible for ensuring your vehicle is clean, safe and your load is legally roadworthy. Carrying out multi-drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner, from 2 – 5 runs expected per day. Working with a variety of different companies, meeting the challenges of an ever more demanding industry.
QUALITY DRIVER’S Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
10. Hard hats are provided and MUST be worn at all deliveries
11. Arrive at work with all necessary PPE
12. Do full vehicle checks at least 15 – 20 mins
13. Call in if running late for assignment or any client/customer issues
14. Communicate any technical issues
15. Comply with contractual agreement at all times
16. Good communication with customers – ETA in advance
17. Download Digital Tacho Card – Weekly (employed / remote workers)
18. Avoid tachograph infringements and report unforeseen circumstances
19. Accept liability for ‘clear fault’ parking or driving fines (that don’t relate to expected duties) – decisions made at the company’s discretion
20. MUST contact the team regarding ANY client service issues or client’s customers non-conventional requests
21. Supervise the loading of the vehicle so that products are safely loaded and secured to minimise chances of damage
22. Ensure with the Transport Manager and Loader that the load is correct against the customers’ orders
23. Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respect customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with customer and/or Transport Manager
24. Check goods off with customers and obtain signatures and print
25. Loading and unloading of goods from vehicles
26. Follow specific company policies relative to safety and compliance
27. Drive within the tachograph law and driver hours limits
28. Wash truck once a week
29. Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab
30. Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure
31. Engage with company Training program
32. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, to include the Company Standards of Performance and Health and Safety Policy
Essential Requirements:
33. You must hold a current CAT C Lorry Loader licence
34. No more than 6 points on your licence
35. Hold a current DQC and Digital Tachograph card
36. Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience
37. Excellent verbal communication
38. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers
39. Diligent attention to detail
40. Ability to work under pressure
41. Flexibility
42. Agree to Initial Assessment / Induction program
43. Agree to ongoing CPD Training program and attend essential training where required
