Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Licensing Assistant to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.
The Licensing Service carries out an important regulatory function, undertaking a range of duties to help ensure public safety and support business within the borough.
The role involves providing excellent customer service in the full A to Z of local authority licensing, from Acupuncture to Zoos and everything in between, including Alcohol, Entertainment, Taxis, Animal Activities, Tattooing, Explosives and Gambling. This is a very varied and fast-paced role where full training and support will be provided.
The team enforces the law, investigates complaints, provides advice and guidance, and processes applications within legal timeframes. They work closely with a variety of stakeholders including internal and external partner organisations such as the Police, Fire Service, and local businesses.
The role includes:
1. Processing applications and producing licences within legislative timescales.
2. Inputting, presenting, and interrogating statistical data.
3. Providing professional advice to licensing enquiries.
4. Arranging and carrying out face-to-face appointments.
5. Investigating complaints and requests for service.
6. Identifying service improvements.
7. Liaising with internal and external agencies.
We would love to hear from candidates that have:
* Direct experience of or the ability to understand and apply regulation, law, and public safety.
* Excellent communication skills.
* A professional, welcoming, and positive attitude.
* Ability to multi-task and manage a varied workload in a flexible environment.
* Strong organisation and attention to detail skills.
* Good IT skills and experience of using Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
