Key Responsibilities:
1. Validate novel therapeutic targets, contributing to their nomination onto portfolio and advance new pipeline programmes as a member of project teams.
2. Analyse expression of the most promising cancer targets on mRNA and protein level, contribute to their nomination onto portfolio and their progression towards IND.
3. Analyse expression of AML cancer targets across molecular subtypes and normal tissues.
4. Build a deep understanding of AML disease biology and awareness of key opinion leaders in the field.
5. Evaluate most representative models of cancer/healthy tissues and, using in vitro ImmTAC assays, further elucidate target biology.
6. Enhance target identification and validation processes with novel and innovative suggestions.
7. Analyse relevant literature to aid triaging potential cancer targets by gaining in-depth understanding of the target biological role and cancer disease biology.
8. Collaborate cross-functionally and act as a representative in cross-functional project teams.
9. Analyse and report experimental results verbally and in writing, and contribute to writing research publications.
Person Specification:
Experience & Knowledge:
Essential:
1. Understanding of the drug discovery process.
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
3. Demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment as evidenced by publications, presentations, patent applications, and/or contributions to regulatory submissions.
4. Astute scientific approach with strong time management and agile work practices.
5. Experience with histology techniques, such as FFPE/frozen tissue sectioning and Immunohistochemistry.
6. Experience with molecular biology techniques including primer design and qPCR, western blotting.
7. Experience with cell-based assays including cell culture, flow cytometry and FACS, in vitro immunoassays (ideally expertise with primary AML).
Desirable:
1. Experience in single/multiplex Immunofluorescence/IHC/In Situ Hybridisation.
2. In-depth knowledge of AML disease biology, molecular heterogeneity, stem cell biology and representative models.
3. Drug-hunting industry record.
4. Experience with analysis of single-cell RNA sequencing data (10x), bioinformatics, pathology training and complex cell and 3D models.
Education & Qualifications:
Normally requires a PhD in a scientific discipline and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience; may include post-doctoral experience. MSc degree or BSc degree with role-specific equivalent research or industrial experience.
