What is the role?
The role of a Depute Head Teacher within the Virtual School is to assist and, where necessary, deputise for the Virtual School Head Teacher in the conduct of local authority, and at times National affairs. The duties of this Depute Head Teacher are to support the Head Teacher in the performance of his/her duties to:
* Implement and support a new initiative to educate young people returning to South Ayrshire Council from out with authorities
* Take responsibility for aspects of planning for the bespoke curriculum that will be offered to young people returning to education in South Ayrshire
* Promote high expectations and standards through the provision of professional advice, reviewing professional needs and performance, and supporting continuous professional development of colleagues
* Work in partnership with parents, carers, other professionals and agencies and other schools to meet the needs of young people and families
* Track and monitor engagement and participation
Requirements/desirable:
* Experienced Principal Teacher or current DHT
* Skilled in trauma informed practice
* Understanding of appropriate national guidance around The Promise and UNCRC
* Experience of multi agency working
* Understand secondary curriculum

The Grade of this post is DHT1 with an annual salary of £62,556.
