Western General Hospital Edinburgh
Band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist
Full time, Permanent Post in Medical Assessment Unit.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Medical team at the Western General Hospital Edinburgh. Our team provides input to trolleys and the medical assessment unit (MAU) to facilitate early discharge from hospital. We are therefore looking for a driven, enthusiastic, motivated and flexible Occupational Therapist to join our team.
Applicants Should Have
1. Excellent communication, time management and prioritisation skills.
2. A high standard of Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention skills.
3. Clinical experience working as an Occupational Therapist within an acute or rehabilitation setting.
4. Experience of providing clinical or non-clinical supervision.
In return, we offer formal supervision, development opportunities including Quality Improvement and peer support from an experienced and friendly team. There are strong network links to the hospital via bus services.
Candidates who are currently in a Band 5 post and wish to develop their career are encouraged to apply along with those already in a Band 6 post. There will be a commitment to weekend working in the Occupational Therapy team at WGH as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e., child and/or adult), then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
We will fully support disabled candidates, and candidates with long-term conditions or who are neurodivergent by making reasonable adjustments to our recruitment policy and practices.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part-time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37-hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Recruiting Board.
