Supplier QM Engineering Senior Engineer
Location: Ryton (3 days office / 2 from home)
Rate: Up to £30.73ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or £23.39ph PAYE
Employment Type: Contract (12 months)

The Opportunity: The purpose of the role is to develop the capacity and quality performance of all new and existing Aftermarket component suppliers of parts, for the Service Sector. To support the planning, monitoring, and controlling supplier manufacturing processes and activities to enable high quality and on-time execution of product programmes effectively and efficiently whilst maintaining and improving current part performance.
Key Tasks:
1. Review PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and approve PSW's (Part submission warrants) for our client’s Classic suppliers.
Key Performance Indicators:
1. Supplier quality and delivery performance metrics
2. PPAP PSW submission achievement
3. MSA achievement
4. Aftermarket Sourcing Process concurrence achievement
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Site development/Manufacturing site assessment
2. Supplier site improvement
3. Improve quality systems and drive continuous improvement
4. Support Buyers and GSP at SBR to ensure robust selection processes for suppliers
5. Support review of DFMEA and lead review of PFMEA and control plans
6. Support Suppliers in Advanced Product Quality Planning
7. Support suppliers in the Phased Production Part Approval Process to achieve timely PSW submissions
8. Launch support (high impact suppliers)
9. 8-D concern resolution
10. Warranty reduction
11. Schedule and conduct field action/stop shipment reviews in cases of supplier responsible concerns
12. Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested from time to time

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Essential:
1. A passion for quality and attention to detail, with an analytical mindset
2. Experience within a Vehicle Engineering/Quality function and familiar with the Global Product Development System
3. Knowledge and experience of APQP/PPAP/PSW
4. Able to facilitate resolution of complex cross-functional issues
5. Sound knowledge of problem-solving tools and techniques
6. Good leadership/negotiation/communication & interpersonal skills
7. Able to operate effectively at all levels of the organisation
8. Self-motivated & able to work on their own initiative
9. Computer literate
10. No restrictions for European travel
11. Full UK driving license (essential)
Desirable:
1. Qualified to degree level within an engineering or business discipline
2. Experience of working with overseas suppliers
3. Lean / Six Sigma Certification
