Engineering Manager

Hours: Monday to Friday, 07:30am – 16:45pm
About the Role
Engineering @ 365 is recruiting for an Engineering Manager on behalf of our client in the food production industry. This is a hands-on role, with 60-70% of time spent on the factory floor, ensuring that all plant and equipment operate efficiently while leading and developing an engineering team. The role also involves maintaining compliance with health & safety and food safety standards to support uninterrupted production.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and motivate a team of engineers to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs) and business objectives.
* Plan and prioritise engineering workloads to ensure maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
* Maintain all plant, equipment, and systems to regulatory and legislative standards.
* Diagnose and resolve mechanical/electrical issues in a timely manner.
* Implement preventative maintenance strategies and manage engineering stores efficiently.
* Introduce and champion industry best practices and new technologies where applicable.
* Ensure compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, TACCP, VACCP, and Health & Safety regulations.
* Conduct risk assessments and support health & safety initiatives alongside the HS Officer.
* Maintain high GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and housekeeping standards.
* Complete all necessary documentation, reports, and maintenance records accurately and on time.
* Play a key role in recruitment, training, and development of the engineering team.
* Be flexible with working hours, including on-call duties to address urgent issues.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Relevant qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* Extensive hands-on experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering.
* 16th / 17th / 18th Edition certification.
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent organisational and project management abilities.
* Ability to analyse problems, implement solutions, and minimise downtime.
* High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Experience in a fast-paced food production or manufacturing environment.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
* Food Hygiene qualification.
* NEBOSH / IOSH certification in Health & Safety.
* Previous experience as an Engineering Manager in a food production setting.
