NVQ Apprentice Painter & Decorator - London University
A rare opportunity has arisen for an apprentice painter to join a large London universities building maintenance department.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting painters carrying out maintenance painting and decorating service requests including planned preventive maintenance and liaising with customers.
Whilst assisting colleagues and learning on the job, the post holder will attend college by studying to gain both an
Intermediate and an Advanced Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating.
The qualifications gained will be Level 2 NVQ in Painting and Decorating.
Note that college attendance and successful completion of these studies is required as an integral part of this role.
Typical Daily Duties:
To work under the close supervision of a painter and assist with carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance duties.
Assist in providing an efficient and cost effective service to the University in all Maintenance matters.
To observe and learn how work is carried out by the painter in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act and all statutory regulations in force at the time.
Ensure to the best of their ability that the safety and welfare of themselves and others is paramount during the execution of his/her work.
The apprentice shall be responsible to the Maintenance Supervisors at all times in the first instances.
Be able to carry out his/her duties in a satisfactory manner with supervision to a required standard.
The apprentice is responsible to attend college and carry out all the necessary training required to complete this course.
The apprentice is responsible to fill out and complete a technical log book showing all work undertaken which will be included as part of their assessment/course.
