The Role
We're looking for a talented Senior IT Engineer to join our team. You'll work closely with our Director of IT and Information security, playing a pivotal role in building and shaping our new internal IT function. Your contributions will be crucial, adding significant value to our operations.
You will work with various teams across Opencast to identify pain points and recommend improvements to enhance the end-user experience.
We are looking for someone with excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive approach to technology management, and a passion for providing high-quality systems and support.
Essential Experience
1. Delivery of high-quality support, both remotely and in person within defined SLAs.
2. Work prioritisation within an ITSM platform.
3. Troubleshooting complex IT issues, both hardware and software, up to the 3rd line.
4. Performing root cause analysis to prevent issues from happening again.
5. Following agreed procedures and documentation.
6. Managing escalation to 3rd party suppliers / partners for support when required.
7. Maintenance of system security through patching and system hardening.
8. Development of technical documentation and SOPs.
9. Supporting and mentoring other members of your team.
10. Significant experience working within a similar role.
You'll Need a Good Understanding Of:
1. Desktop operating systems, including macOS and Windows (we mostly use macOS).
2. The Microsoft 365 suite of products, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive etc.
3. EntraID and Single-Sign-on.
4. Server operating systems including exposure to Linux environments.
5. Computer hardware, with the ability to carry out repairs when required.
6. Network administration and troubleshooting, including firewall management.
7. Cloud computing and virtualisation technologies.
8. System monitoring tools.
9. Asset management.
Desirable Experience
Some areas of experience are not essential but relevant to the role:
1. Experience using and administering Atlassian suite of products, including Jira and Confluence.
2. Experience administering Salesforce.
3. Experience with ERP solutions - Any exposure to Workday would be helpful.
4. Experience using MDM / RMM tools, including Jamf for managing Mac estates.
5. A strong understanding of cyber security principles and best practices.
Salary
Salary range: £35,000-£40,000
