OneWelbeck offers outpatient procedural and day-case intervention work in a unique dedicated setting to include procedures such as Ear, Nose & Throat, Permanent Pacemaker Implantation, Cryo AF Ablation, Orthopaedic, Gynaecological and Gastro-Intestinal procedures. Welbeck Health Partners are developing several other day centres across the UK in addition to the flagship centre at 1 Welbeck Street. Further centres are also planned internationally.

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Paediatric nurse to run our new Paediatric Outpatient Service within Women’s and Men’s Health, caring for ages 12-18 years old.
This is a new role, and the ideal candidate would be one that works with the Centre team and the Head of Nursing for Paediatrics to build a Paediatric service based on high quality family centred care and young person focused experience. They should also be focused, motivated and adaptable.
The candidate will:
1. Be responsible and provide clear clinical leadership in Children’s and Young People’s care in the Centre with support from the Head of Paediatric Nursing.
2. Maintain a safe environment for children, young people and their families or carers.
3. Maintain and promote effective communication within the Centre team, colleagues, children, young people and relatives.
4. Act as a mentor to other staff in Paediatric nursing including teaching and assessing Paediatric competencies to adult trained staff.
5. Maintain a professional profile and develop skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code and Centre policies and procedures.
6. Provide a high standard of individualised care to Children and Young people, acting as a role model and supporting the Centre Director and the Head of Paediatric Nursing in driving quality care provision forward.
7. Ensure all staff, including themselves, recognise the responsibility to deliver services that maintain confidentiality and achieve high quality care in a courteous and professional manner ensuring children, young people and the families are the focus of care.
8. Be visionary, enthusiastic and dynamic to drive the Paediatric Service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Clinical
1. Demonstrate specialist expertise and professional knowledge acquired through post-registration academic study, Clinical, leadership and management development.
2. Treat children and young people with privacy, dignity and respect.
3. Advocate for children/young people and their families.
4. Work and act as a role model for professional Paediatric practice and leadership, demonstrating the application of Paediatric nursing knowledge and skills in their work, and in advising and supporting members of the multi-disciplinary team.
5. Manage or assist with clinical care of children and young people within the Centre ensuring the needs of the child/young person and family are paramount.
6. Have good verbal and written skills to ensure robust documentation in line with the NMC code, and that care guidance and instructions are well understood by children, young people and their families/carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
7. Report any risks, near misses or incidents according to Centre policy.
8. Respond to Centre emergencies.
9. Work in accordance with NMC Code and Centre policies and procedures.
10. Work well autonomously and as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
11. Stay clinically and professionally up to date with current trends, research and development in Paediatric care.
12. Assist the Head of Nursing for Paediatrics with the development of Paediatric nursing across the Centres.
13. Be flexible and adaptable to supporting adult clinics when there are no Paediatric clinics running.
14. Have experience in Audit and policy development.
Communication:
1. Communicate effectively with children, their families, colleagues and the multidisciplinary team.
2. Participate in the multidisciplinary decision-making process regarding changes in care.
3. Demonstrate listening skills and the use of non-verbal cues.
4. Demonstrate an awareness of others’ emotional, physical and psychological situation and respond sensitively.
Education and Training
1. Assess own educational needs and ensure practice is up to date with clinical and nursing developments in line with the requirements of the NMC.
2. Lead and participate in Paediatric education, training and competencies.
3. Motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for Centre staff.
4. Support the development of child and young person educational literature.
Quality Care & Governance:
1. Contribute to high-quality, cost-effective specialist service through monitoring and audit and any other quality initiatives initiated by the Centre or Clinical Quality Team.
2. Lead or participate in change management due to key developments within Paediatric practice.
3. Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
4. Contribute to the monitoring and review of Paediatric standards of care and any required changes to policy and procedures.
5. Identify and intervene where circumstances contribute to an unsafe environment for children, young people, families or staff and bring to the attention of the Centre Director.
6. Be aware of the Child and Young Person’s Safeguarding policy and procedures and demonstrate ability to raise concerns and work with other agencies to protect children.
7. Work with the Centre Director and Head of Paediatric Nursing to investigate and resolve any Centre Paediatric incidents or complaints, developing action plans if needed and embedding any changes to policy or practice resulting from it.
Policy and Service Development:
1. Participate in the production, monitoring and updating of clinical practice guidelines and procedures.
2. Participate in clinical audit.
3. Assist the Centre Director in ensuring that nursing practice reflects current clinical developments, evidence-based guidance and is based on sound nursing audit and research, identifying opportunities for the promotion and participation in such activities.
4. Work with the Centre Director to develop the Paediatric service.
People Management:
1. Support the Centre Director to manage resources effectively.
2. Co-ordinate and manage paediatrics clinic.
3. Contribute to the provision of a flexible service with the multi-disciplinary team in order to meet the needs of the Paediatric public and the rapidly changing healthcare environment.
4. Assist in promoting interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interests of the children, young people and their families/carers and cohesive service delivery.
5. In liaison with the Centre director and Head of Paediatric Nursing monitor and efficiently and effectively remedy any deficiencies in the paediatric service.
6. Ensure staff receive feedback on the results of Paediatric audits and support in action to make improvements.
7. Have a flexible approach to staffing requirements to meet the changing clinical demands of the service.
