Position: Sub Agent - Civil Engineering Role Overview: As a Sub Agent, you will be responsible for managing small-value civil engineering and construction sites or assisting the Site Agent and Project Manager on larger value schemes. Your goal will be to ensure project delivery aligns with customer objectives while maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality, environmental impact, and cost control. Key Responsibilities: In site management, you will maintain the commercial performance of the contract and ensure the successful delivery of projects. You will produce and manage the project programme, supervising its delivery. You must be able to understand and interpret drawings and specifications and provide engineering expertise and support to the project team. Ensuring all staff, subcontractors, and visitors are properly inducted and meet the required competencies is vital, along with representing the business to customers, the public, and official bodies. You will be expected to deliver products to customer satisfaction and produce quality, accurate monthly reports for the client and internally. Weekly site meetings will need to be chaired in line with company procedures, and you will also be responsible for obtaining accurate and relevant ‘as built’ information. In health, safety, environment, and quality, you will always comply with company procedures and legal obligations, promoting best practices. You will promote safe working cultures and environmental compliance and ensure all HSEQ-related documentation is kept up to date. Regular inspections, audits, and reports will need to be carried out, and you will liaise with third parties and government agencies as required. In cost control, you will manage the project cost plan and maximize project value. You will maintain a commercial focus to drive out costs and ensure site diaries and records are completed accurately. In managing resources, you will need to address any issues related to resources promptly and ensure that records of resources are complete and accurate. Key Measures and Targets: You will be expected to meet monthly and weekly reporting deadlines, adhere to business unit objectives, and ensure that 3 Pillar KPI measures are met. Key Relationships: You will work closely with customers and stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers, as well as site teams and support departments. Person Specification: The successful candidate will likely meet all of the following criteria: Essential: Considerable experience in civil engineering. Working knowledge of NEC contract conditions, CDM regulations, design management, programme and risk management, and cost control. A degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required. You must hold a CSCS card, an SMSTS card, and a full driving licence. Strong communication, people, and team management skills with the ability to motivate others are essential. The ability to challenge designs and resolve problems is crucial, as is demonstrating the right behaviours to ensure the culture is in line with company values. Desirable: Working towards CEng, IEng AMICE, or equivalent. Experience in water-related projects. Temporary Works Co-ordinator qualification. Leadership experience. Service avoidance training. Confined space training. Appointed person CPCS card. NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications.
