About Six Stories:
Founded in 2019 by Lucy and Ross, Six Stories is a leading fashion brand known for thoughtfully designed, confidence-boosting occasion wear. Inspired by true romantics, our collections are rooted in weddings and life's most meaningful celebrations. With our customer at the heart of everything we do, we've experienced fast, consistent growth - recently ranking #15 in The Sunday Times 100 Fastest-Growing Companies 2024. We're proudly stocked in Selfridges, ASOS, Next and Very.com.
As a bootstrapped business, we move fast and think big. Our team is made up of driven self-starters who thrive in a dynamic, ever-evolving environment. We're guided by our core values: Joy, Authenticity, Community, and Quality.
We're now growing our brilliant team and looking for positive, energetic individuals to be part of this exciting next chapter.
Purpose of the Role:
We’re looking for a Commercial & Operations Manager to help us run smarter, leaner, and more profitably, with clarity over all operations, processes, and finances.
You’ll sit at the intersection of ops, finance, and strategy - turning complexity into clarity. As we scale our business, you’ll help ensure we are doing so as efficiently as possible.
This role is for someone who gets fired up by ownership, loves making sense of the moving parts, and has a sharp instinct for commercial decision-making. Someone who is excellent with finances and has the leadership and commercial acumen to make real positive change within our logistics and operations.
You’ll free up the founders to focus on growth by owning the financial and operational engine that powers it.
What You'll Own:
Full Ownership of Financial Clarity:
* Own weekly/monthly financial reporting with insight into performance drivers
* Manage our in-house management accountant for accurate and up-to-date finances with management packs
* Monitor and manage cash flow across the business
* Support the CEO with budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning
* Actively manage risks in logistics, suppliers, operations, and team
End-to-End Operational Oversight:
* Own global logistics: Manage relationships with 3PLs across UK, US, and EU, including pricing, performance, and issue resolution
* Returns performance: Drive improvements and accountability in our returns process
* Freight and international expansion: Lead logistics planning for growth, including freight setup and local fulfilment
* Order fulfilment: Ensure timely and accurate processing of all orders globally
* Warehouse and packaging: Oversee WMS synchronization and inventory handling in line with standards
* Logistics systems and data: Track and report SLA data against KPIs
* Cross-functional coordination: Collaborate with Production and Merchandising teams to optimize shipping and logistics
Commercial Stock Planning:
* Translate sales forecasts into buying decisions with Buying & Merch teams
* Optimize margins and stock cover, avoiding overstock and cash flow issues
Drive High-Impact Projects:
* Lead projects to reduce costs or improve contribution, e.g., returns strategy, packaging, duties
* Enhance cross-border logistics, including tariffs and duties
Scale with Focus:
* Ensure profitable growth as we scale
* Bring rigor to strategic decisions and support founders
Customer Service:
* Oversee Customer Service, working closely with the Manager
* Ensure KPIs are met and improve customer experience
* Identify and implement continuous improvements
Who You Are:
* Highly numerate and commercially sharp, understanding margins and unit economics
* Experienced in finance, operations, and e-commerce, especially in fast-growing businesses
* Familiar with working with 3PLs
* Fast worker with high expectations
* Strong communicator and team rallying skills
* Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets and detail-oriented
* Positive, grounded, with a can-do attitude
Why This Role is Exciting:
* Part of a fast-growing business where processes are key
* Work directly with founders in a UK high-growth company
* International expansion opportunities
* Visible impact on margins and clarity
* Engaged customer base and great team
* Working Style: Mostly in-office 4 days, 1 day WFH, flexible
