The Role
Wessex Internet are seeking experienced Civils Operatives to undertake excavations, repairs and re-reinstatements, installation of ducting, chambers and street cabinets and the installation of draw rope on telecoms infrastructure. This position requires a high degree of self-motivation, organisation and supervision skills.
Ideally, you will have civils experience working on a utility (Telecom, Gas, Water or Electricity) network. Other civils experience including groundworks would also be beneficial.
Openreach accreditations would be preferred but training can be provided. A valid SWQR card with units 1-4 would be advantageous but not essential.
Responsibilities
* Provide new installation and repair of network duct for associated customer connections.
* Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard.
* Be competent in the use of stihl saws, wacker plates, trench compactor and hold the correct certification to complete the works.
* Install new draw rope and drop cable to customer’s connection point following installation/repair of duct works.
* Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily work i.e. risk assessments, plant sheets and/or van sheets.
* To treat internal and external customers with respect and provide support at all times.
* Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures.
* To be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties.
Requirements
* Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities.
* Must have a good knowledge of sign/lighting and guarding (NRWSA).
* SWQR Card units 1-4 (Advantageous)
* Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry.
* Hold a full UK driving licence

Salary: £30,000 - £33,000 DOE
Role Type: Full Time/Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: Field Based, Nr Blandford Forum, Dorset
Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
