The job itself
Legal and Democratic Services are seeking a Civil Litigation Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX practitioner with a current practising certificate to work in the Litigation & Regulatory Services Team.
The post holder will be required to deal with a varied caseload of civil litigation work from across all areas of the council but primarily dealing with housing in relation to disrepair claims, injunction applications (including without notice applications), possession claims and closure applications. The applicant should be a confident advocate with the ability to act in civil proceedings in the County Court and Magistrates Court. The successful candidate will also be required to provide training to council departments and act as a legal adviser to committee on occasion.
Experience of working in local government is desirable but not essential. Applicants should be enthusiastic and willing to contribute effectively to team working with a can-do approach, have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels across the council, including with elected members, senior leadership team and other stakeholders.
