Kinetic Academy is an independent specialist school catering for children and young people aged 9 - 16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Job Purpose
The Headteacher will provide strategic leadership and operational management to ensure the highest standards of education, care, and support for students. The role requires a dynamic leader with a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and the holistic development of students with complex needs. A key focus will be on ensuring the highest quality of education, fostering a culture of academic excellence and continuous improvement, and driving whole-school improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy:
* Develop and implement the school’s vision, values, and strategic direction.
* Ensure the school meets all statutory requirements, including Ofsted regulations.
* Lead and inspire staff to deliver high-quality teaching and pastoral care.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.
* Promote a strong focus on the quality of education, ensuring outstanding teaching and learning experiences for all students.
* Drive school improvement by identifying and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance student outcomes and overall school performance.
Teaching & Learning:
* Oversee curriculum development tailored to the needs of SEMH and ASD students.
* Monitor and evaluate teaching and learning to ensure high standards.
* Promote innovative and inclusive teaching strategies.
* Ensure students receive personalised learning plans and appropriate interventions.
* Establish and maintain rigorous academic standards to drive student achievement and progress.
Safeguarding & Welfare:
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (or work closely with the DSL).
* Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are effectively implemented.
* Promote a positive, safe, and therapeutic learning environment.
Staff Management & Development:
* Recruit, mentor, and develop a skilled and motivated team.
* Conduct performance management and professional development for staff.
* Foster a supportive and collaborative working culture.
* Ensure continuous professional development for staff to enhance the quality of education provided.
Parental & Community Engagement:
* Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and external professionals.
* Work with local authorities and external agencies to support students' needs.
* Promote the school’s reputation within the wider community.
Financial & Operational Management:
* Oversee budget management, ensuring financial sustainability.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety and safeguarding regulations.
* Manage school resources effectively to enhance student learning.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
* Extensive leadership experience in a SEN/SEMH/ASD setting.
* Proven track record of improving educational outcomes for students with complex needs.
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and statutory education requirements.
* Demonstrated ability to drive the quality of education and learning standards.
* Proven ability to drive school improvement and implement effective change management strategies.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
* NPQH (National Professional Qualification for Headship) or equivalent.
* Experience leading an independent or specialist school.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
