A mid-sized construction consultancy near Huddersfield is seeking a talented CDM Principal Designer to join their team. This consultancy specialises in delivering high-quality projects across various sectors, including healthcare, technologies, residential, education, industrial and transport.
The CDM Principal Designer's Role
The successful CDM Principal Designer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and managing design risk across a diverse portfolio of projects. Working closely with clients, design teams, and contractors, you will provide expert advice and ensure health and safety considerations are embedded throughout the design and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Advising on and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations
2. Managing design risk and integrating health and safety considerations into the design process
3. Coordinating with clients, designers, and contractors to meet project requirements
4. Conducting design reviews and providing guidance on best practices
5. Preparing and reviewing pre-construction information and health and safety files
The CDM Principal Designer:
1. Degree qualified in a relevant discipline (e.g., architecture, engineering, construction management)
2. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent
3. Proven experience in a Principal Designer role within the construction industry
4. Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and health and safety standards
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
